Psychological Safety, Wellbeing & Organisational Development

Organisational Consulting & Advisory

Helping organisations understand what is happening beneath the surface - and develop practical, psychologically informed strategies that improve the way people work, lead and respond to change.

Sometimes what you see at work isn't the real problem.

A team that was once engaged starts becoming quieter. Good people begin leaving. Conflict appears where there used to be collaboration. Absenteeism increases. A manager is struggling with a team they once led well. People seem exhausted, disconnected or increasingly resistant to change.

On the surface, these can look like performance, communication or people problems.

But often, something deeper is happening underneath.

Psychological safety may have been eroded. Workloads may have quietly become unsustainable. A period of organisational change may have left people feeling uncertain or disconnected. Leaders may be trying to support increasingly stressed teams without understanding what is driving the behaviour they are seeing.

That is where psychologically informed organisational consulting can help.

At Mind Healing Matters, we work with organisations to understand not simply what is happening, but why it is happening.

We bring a psychological lens to workplace challenges - helping organisations understand the human behaviour, emotional responses, workplace systems and cultural dynamics that may be contributing to the problem.

Our consulting and advisory services can support organisations experiencing:

  • Psychological safety and psychosocial risk concerns

  • Workplace stress, burnout and increasing emotional demands

  • Organisational change, uncertainty and workforce disruption

  • Leadership and team challenges

  • Workplace conflict and deteriorating team relationships

  • Critical incidents and their psychological impact on employees

  • Workplace culture and wellbeing concerns

  • Leadership capability and psychologically informed management

  • Employee engagement, connection and psychological wellbeing

  • Development of practical workplace wellbeing strategies

The goal isn't to walk into an organisation with a generic wellbeing program or another checklist.

It is to understand your people, your workplace and what is actually happening beneath the surface - and then develop practical strategies that make sense for your organisation.

Because healthier workplaces aren't created simply by telling people to become more resilient.

They are created when organisations understand the conditions that allow people to feel safe, stay connected, adapt to change and do their best work.

Let's Talk About What's Happening in Your Organisation

If something within your workplace doesn't feel quite right - or you already know there is a challenge that needs addressing - the first step can simply be a conversation.

Tell us what you're noticing, what you're concerned about, and what you would like to change.

Workplace Training & Development

Helping people understand the psychology behind how they think, feel and respond at work — and giving them practical skills they can actually use when it matters.

What if your people understood what was happening before things reached breaking point?

Imagine a manager noticing that one of their best employees has become quieter, withdrawn and unusually reactive - and understanding that this may be more than a performance problem.

Imagine a team recognising the early signs of burnout before someone reaches the point where they simply cannot keep going.

Imagine leaders understanding why people can become resistant, anxious or disengaged during organisational change - rather than assuming they are simply being difficult.

Or an employee experiencing anxiety who understands what is happening inside their brain and body and knows what they can actually do about it.

That is what effective workplace mental health training should do.

It shouldn't simply give people more information.

It should give them greater understanding.

At Mind Healing Matters, our workplace training takes psychology out of textbooks and translates it into practical, relatable conversations about what actually happens to people at work.

We help people understand why they think, feel and react the way they do — particularly when they are under pressure, experiencing uncertainty, navigating change or trying to support someone else who is struggling.

Because when people understand the psychology behind behaviour, they can begin responding differently.

A manager can become curious rather than critical.

A team can recognise stress before it becomes burnout.

A leader can understand why psychological safety influences whether people speak up, contribute ideas, admit mistakes or stay silent.

And employees can develop practical strategies for managing their own psychological wellbeing rather than waiting until they are overwhelmed.

Training That Connects Psychology With the Real World

Workplace training and development can be tailored to the needs of your organisation and may include:

  • Psychological safety in the workplace

  • Understanding psychosocial hazards and workplace mental health

  • Recognising and responding to stress and burnout

  • Anxiety, the brain and the workplace

  • Leading psychologically safe teams

  • Mental health awareness for managers and employees

  • Supporting employees who may be struggling

  • Managing uncertainty and organisational change

  • Building healthier workplace communication

  • Difficult conversations and workplace relationships

  • Emotional intelligence and self-awareness

  • Understanding the psychology behind human behaviour at work

  • Resilience without simply telling people to "be more resilient"

  • Leadership development through a psychological lens

  • Critical incident awareness and psychologically informed responses

Training can be delivered through interactive workshops, leadership sessions, team development programs, webinars and tailored organisational presentations.

Rather than delivering the same presentation to every workplace, content can be shaped around your organisation, your people and the challenges they are actually experiencing.

Less Theory. More "Now I Understand."

Some of the most powerful moments in training happen when someone suddenly recognises themselves - or someone they work with - in what they are learning.

"That's why I react like that."

"That's what has been happening in our team."

"Now I understand why they shut down."

"I wish someone had explained this to me years ago."

That understanding matters.

Because information alone rarely changes behaviour.

Understanding can.

Our goal is for people to leave training not simply knowing more about psychology, but understanding themselves and the people around them differently - and knowing what they can do next.

Bring Psychology Into Your Workplace

Whether you're looking for a single workshop, leadership development session, organisation-wide webinar or training designed around a particular workplace challenge, we can develop a program that fits your people and your organisation.

Tell us what you're seeing, what you would like your people to better understand, and what you would like to be different afterwards.

About Ian Barrow

Where business experience meets psychology and workplace wellbeing.

Ian Barrow brings a perspective to organisational consulting shaped by experience on both sides of the workplace conversation.

Before moving into counselling and psychological wellbeing, Ian spent more than two decades working across management, leadership and executive management roles. Combined with an MBA in Business Management, this experience means he understands that organisations are complex environments where commercial pressures, leadership decisions, workplace culture, performance expectations and human behaviour are constantly interacting.

Today, as the founder of Mind Healing Matters, Ian brings that business and leadership experience together with his work in counselling, workplace mental health and psychological wellbeing.

This combination allows him to look at workplace challenges through two interconnected lenses:

What is happening for the organisation?

And:

What is happening psychologically for the people within it?

Understanding Both Sides of the Workplace

Having worked as an executive manager, Ian understands the realities leaders and managers face.

There are targets to achieve. Decisions have to be made. Change has to be implemented. Performance needs to be managed. Difficult conversations cannot always be avoided. Leaders are expected to support their people while simultaneously managing the operational and commercial demands of the organisation.

But his work as a counsellor has also given him a very different view of organisational life.

It has allowed him to sit with the people on the other side of those decisions.

Employees experiencing burnout.

Managers questioning whether they are coping.

People struggling through organisational change.

Employees dealing with conflict, uncertainty or psychological safety concerns.

People grieving the loss of a colleague.

Workers facing redundancy or the loss of a professional identity.

Leaders carrying enormous responsibility while trying not to show how overwhelmed they have become.

That combination of experience shapes Ian's approach to organisational consulting.

He understands that good organisational outcomes and psychological wellbeing do not have to sit on opposite sides of the table.

Psychologically Informed Organisational Support

Ian currently works as a contracted therapist with Uprise, providing psychological support to employees, managers and leaders across a diverse range of organisations and industries.

Through this work and his broader consulting practice, he supports people experiencing workplace stress and burnout, organisational change, workplace conflict, grief and bereavement, redundancy, critical incidents, leadership pressures, relationship difficulties, psychological safety concerns and periods of significant personal or professional uncertainty.

Ian also works with HR professionals, managers and organisational leaders, providing a psychological perspective on complex workplace situations and helping organisations consider not simply:

"What do we need to do?"

but also:

"How will our people experience it?"

and:

"How can we manage this in a psychologically informed way?"

Leadership, Management & Workplace Education

Ian develops and delivers workplace webinars, presentations, workshops and educational programs across leadership, management and workplace mental health.

His areas of focus include psychological safety, leadership and management, workplace mental health, stress and burnout, anxiety, organisational change, grief and loss, redundancy, resilience, uncertainty, difficult workplace conversations and understanding the psychology behind human behaviour at work.

His approach is deliberately practical.

Rather than overwhelming people with psychological theory, Ian translates psychology into everyday workplace experiences that leaders and employees immediately recognise.

The aim is for someone to leave a session thinking:

"Now I understand why that's happening."

And, importantly:

"Now I know what I can do differently."

Business Understanding. Psychological Insight. Practical Change.

Ian's approach is grounded in the belief that many workplace problems cannot be understood by looking only at policies, processes or individual behaviour.

Sometimes what an organisation sees on the surface - disengagement, conflict, absenteeism, resistance, declining performance or people leaving - is the visible expression of something deeper.

Understanding what is happening beneath that surface allows organisations to respond differently.

Ian brings together executive management experience, postgraduate business education and psychological practice to help organisations understand those dynamics and develop practical strategies that work for both the organisation and its people.

Because creating healthier workplaces isn't about choosing between people and performance.

It is about understanding how deeply the two are connected.
